Frequently asked Questions -
What if I forget my uniform? Ask your teacher for a set to borrow for the day. We have many from lost and found that we wash and have available for this purpose. If students forget their clothes and do not borrow a uniform, they will lose points for the day in that area. If students continue to not change, this is significantly impact their grade.
What if I am injured? If a student is injured, a parent note stating that the student needs to sit out of class is needed. Students need to bring that note with them to class. If a student needs to sit out more than a day, they will need a note from a Dr. stating how long they need to sit out and/or any limitations the student may have while participating. The injured will still come to P.E. class at their usual class time, unless otherwise arranged by the p.e. teacher.
How do I make up an absence? Students can make up an absence with a 30 minute note. 30 minute notes are available on this website to print out as well as in the Phy. Ed. hallway. Students need to do any physical activity outside of school sponsored sports. A parent or adult need to sign it and students need to get the slip back to their teacher by the end of the quarter.
When do we do fitness testing? Fitness testing is an important part of our curriculum. It is an assessment used to measure students current level of physical fitness. Fitness testing is done in the fall and spring as well as certain tests done in the winter. Students will come up with a plan to improve in certain areas of fitness, looking for improvements or maintaining throughout the year. check out the fitness testing tab to learn more about what type of tests we conduct.
How often are grades entered? Grades are entered every 2 to 3 weeks depending on the length of each unit. Please see the syllabus tab for further explanation of our grading system.
Do I have to be a star athlete to earn an A? Absolutely not! This is a common misconception. 50 percent of student's grade is based on Effort and Participation. The expectation is that students will do their best to their ability, be socially responsibly, and come prepared for class.
How do I buy a uniform? Uniforms can be purchased throughout the school year from your P.E. Teacher. Please know that all sizes may not be available throughout the year and students are encouraged to purchase them at open house or at the beginning of the school year.
What if I lose my uniform or lock? Please check lost and found in the cafeteria for lost uniforms. Check with P.E. teacher for missing locks. We issue you each student a locker and a lock. Students need to be sure to lock up their stuff. The locker rooms are used all day long, before school, and after school for after school activities and community education sponsored events. The best way to make sure your belongings are not lost is to lock up your locker with your lock. If you need to replace your lock it is a fee of $5.00 to replace that lock. You must use a school issued lock.
Can I switch lockers when I'm in a sport? Students may switch to a bigger sports locker while they are in their season. However BLUE athletic locks must be used on the sports lockers and are purchased from that coach or athletic office. When that sport is finished, students must move back to their p.e. locker.
